Due to high altitudes, the weather in the Mount Aspiring National Park is rapidly changeable - even in the summer months. The mountain tops are frozen all year round. The rainfall varies from 500 mm in the inner land to up to 8000 mm where the peaks break winds and clouds arriving from the Tasman Sea. Usually, half of all days in a year bring precipitation.
While the summer months from November to April experience a low average temperature of 5° to 11°C, the winter months vary between 0° and 4°C. Temperatures are likely to drop below zero at night, even in the summer months when temperatures primarily depend on altitude.
